These aqua shorts paired with a yellow bandeau top are giving me major 80’s vibes . Flipping the collar on the preppy striped button down and yellow sunnies punctuate the quintessential style of the most fun fashion decade ever! Although pearls were also big in the 80’s they always make me think of style icon Jackie Kennedy, her perfect 60’s style and how she famously proclaimed that “pearls are always appropriate” I totally have to agree. I got this baroque pearl choker from Baublebar last summer and I’m really loving mixing them in with all the gold chains which are such a big trend right now. Mixing the pearls with the chunky gold chokers also gives the look a little more edge and much less matronly which is always the goal right?
A crisp button down shirt makes a great layering piece in the summer I usually like to knot one at the waist over a bikini top when going to the beach but left open like this it almost feels like a light blazer (this shirt is now on sale at Nordstrom link below)
We had a short lived heatwave this week (read: mid 90’s for three days) so we loaded up the car on Wednesday and went for a 28 mile bike ride on the beach path from Santa Monica to Manhattan Beach. It’s a beautiful trail and much cooler down by the water but we are all still incredibly sore from our overly ambitious ride. While in Manhattan Beach we stopped for lunch, yes we ate in at a restaurant for the first time since lockdown. It felt so amazing to sit down and have food and drinks brought to the table, I got a little emotional about the wonderful normalcy of it… with the exception of a few factors: When we walked in we had our temperatures sanned, there were plexiglass dividers between all the tables and there was no wait staff. Regardless it was still a nice moment of regular seeming life and a great kickoff to summer fun!
Happy Friday my friends! xo ~Zia
