Black Button Down Dress; Summer Layers.

Fashion truly is cyclical – I had a black button down dress much like this in the 90’s that was from Club Monaco (I may still have it in my archives) My 90’s version was more of a knit and this one is a lighter almost crépe type fabric that makes it perfect for layering as I did here. This dress would also make a great swimsuit cover-up and of course it works as a stand alone, simple, easy summer dress. Darling really does do a great job of designing elevated basics so you can create a capsule wardrobe for every season. As I write this Im also thinking how cute this will be in the fall over a t-shirt and jeans with some knee high boots!

I am getting ready for a little getaway to the desert this weekend so Im packing all my favorite hot weather pieces that I have yet to wear here in gloomy LA. I’m sure you’ve heard about our June Gloom by now and it is very real! Its not as bad when youre inland but right along the coast it feels very Pacific Northwest right now!
