I was born a tow head and around the time I turned sixteen my hair started getting darker… and darker and darker.  The highlights in my hair would still pop out in the summer but I just don’t feel like my best me unless I’m very blonde. I starting coloring my hair at home in my late teens and as I got older and could afford it I started going to the hair salon more frequently.  Now that I’m a busy working, blogging mom I just don’t have the time to go to the salon every three weeks. I am admittedly extremely impatient and always feel I could be spending my time more wisely than siting in a salon chair for three hours. I started touching up my roots in between salon highlights and I love it! It saves me so much money and precious time, I can accomplish so many things at home while the color is in my hair doing its thing!  I can cook dinner, do my nails (I do this at home too), catch up on emails…Being blonde is very tough on your hair especially if you’re naturally dark, I’m still considered a natural blonde (dark ash to be exact), but its still takes it toll and finding the right at home color took some time. Before I start applying the mix to my hair I apply the Pre-Treatment on my ends while they’re still dry. Next I add the color cream to the pre-filled applicator bottle and shake really, really well!

 

Once the product is well combined I apply to my roots in small sections with the easy to use applicator bottle. If you’re going for all over color then apply to all of your hair.

 

I like wrapping my hair up in a towel while the color processes which usually takes about 30-40 minutes for my hair. Doing my hair at home allows me to get other things done like painting my nails or I can just relax!

After the color is finished processing I rinse it out really well! I leave the conditioner on for at least 5 minutes after combing it through my wet hair. The results are amazing: no more obvious roots or brassiness!

With my hair longer and healthier Ive really been into wearing it poker straight.  The conditioner that comes in the kit is fantastic and makes my hair smooth but to give it that really sleek look I add some smoothing cream to my damp hair and blow it out with a round brush.  I then finish it with a straightening iron and spritz of hairspray!
