Twelve years ago I traveled to the Puerto Vallarta area for the first time with my husband, our then two year old son and my parents. We stayed in Riviera Nayarit which is north of PV and mostly consists of resort hotels. I had no idea what Puerto Vallarta had to offer until the last day of our holiday. My husband and I left our son with my parents and ventured into the city. I immediately fell in love with the energy, the colors and the natural beauty of this charming seaside city and I knew when one day I returned I would want to explore every corner.
En suite breakfast service overlooking the golf course and our private splash pool.
On an adults-only getaway this time we stayed at luxury boutique resort, Casa Velas. This little oasis is situated right on a golf course in the marina area of Puerto Vallarta. This gave us close proximity to the fabulous night life of old town and snorkeling excursions to Marieta Islands or Mismaloya (which is 30 mins south) Additionally its literally only five minutes to the airport which gives you extra time to pack or grab one last margarita before heading home.
All inclusive poolside cocktail service.
Not only is Casa Velas an adults only retreat its also all inclusive. Sometimes all inclusive can have a negative connotation but with Casa Velas and sister resort Grand Velas you will be dining on some of the best meals you will ever experience. (when staying at Casa Velas you have access to dining at the sister resorts including Velas Vallarta) Emiliano’s is the main dining experience at Casa Velas where my husband and I ate our first night. After some of the best ceviche in town and a perfect skinny margarita, I knew I was in for an amazing few days.
Lounging at the Tau Beach Club, Casa Velas.
Aside from the incredibly dreamy terrace, pool area and tropical gardens, Casa Velas also has private beach club which they shuttle guests to and from. Equipped with an infinity pool, beach cabanas and a wonderful restaurant (open for lunch or dinner) you will never want to leave the Tau Beach Club, its truly everything a beach getaway is meant to be.
Enjoying some hydrotherapy after a couples massage at Abja Spa.
A vacation is never complete without a trip to the spa and a muscle relaxing massage to make you forget about anything negative or stressful you left behind at home. My husband and I did the 80 minute couples massage to kick this vacation off and it was an absolutely wonderful way to decompress and also for us to reconnect. Don’t forget to book a session here before you arrive.
Pre-dinner cocktails on the terrace overlooking the koi pond and pool area.
Poolside at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, after our incredible meal at French Restaurant Piaf.
I hope you are now totally inspired to pack your bags and head on a Mexican holiday, I know Im ready to go back and I’ve barely been home a week. There are so many amazing things to do in this tropical paradise or if you choose you can do nothing at all, I’ve now done it both ways! Click here to book your next getaway with Casa Velas!
