Although it’s not done in a conscious effort, I’ve always been a “non-conformist”…
I don’t like getting my nails done at a salon, I prefer to do them myself. I find it uncomfortable and can’t help but think of all the things I’d rather be doing! I do not like Macarons. Artificial coloring aside, sure I think they’re pretty but there are so many better dessert options!!! Peonies are not my favorite flower. I prefer something more sleek and modern such as a Gladiola, Cala Lily or Gerber. I don’t listen to pop music. Nope, sorry, not a fan of Katy or Beyoncé… and all this football mania? Absolutely 100% not interested, I could, however, be coerced into watching a tennis match or surf contest (my photog Steve is going to kill me for saying that, he’s a football coach!) …all this said I think my non-conformity also comes out in my style: I don’t want what everyone else has. If everyone is wearing it I think it loses it’s cool factor, one of the reasons I don’t shop at stores that have 100 of the same item and also why I really like vintage. I don’t claim to be the great originator of new style but I try to do things a bit differently. I have been of this mind set since childhood and my mother will absolutely attest to this: I refused to wear dresses and hated pink. I hope these little tidbits give you some insight about me and the method to my style madness! Thanks for dropping by, xx Zia
