Striped Shorts, Ruffle Top, Strappy Sandals.

With summer in full swing and the heat turned on full blast right now striped shorts in breathable light cotton and breezy tops are all that I feel comfortable in. We’ve been doing more social distance dinners with friends recently so I have found myself actually doing a little dressing up and it feels really good.  Comfort is still my number one criteria for outfits during our continued lockdown but looking cute is essential as well.  I got this ruffled off-shoulder top during Rebecca Minkoff’s 4th of July sale so it is sold out now but I found one on her site that is just as cute and will surely get a lot of use over the summer months. Perfect with denim shorts or a swingy skirt, with tops like this you can’t go wrong.

We had a really low-key July 4th “celebration” we cooked in and watched Broadway’s Hamilton. The content of this musical was incredibly apropo considering the social climate were in. I am still dying to see it live when they go back on stage as theatrical shows don’t seem to translate very well televised do they? In addition to staying in and watching telly, there was an inordinate amount of amateur fireworks going off all night that to me did not seem in the least bit celebratory and very unfortunately ended in several fires around town. This will definitely not go down in my memoirs as a favorite 4th of July. Let me know if yours went better than mine, I know I’m not putting up a lot of competition.
