If there was something I learned coming to New York for fashion week two years ago it was that location matters… a lot! Last time I stayed on the Upper East side with a friend to save money however all the shows and events were downtown and I ended up spending a LOT on Uber fares and always felt rushed. I unfortunately don’t know the city well enough to take the subway everywhere and with jam packed schedules timing is super important. This year my travel pal and I stayed at The Parker Hotel in midtown which was the absolute ideal location. Sure we could’ve stayed right in Soho but this midtown location also gave us the option of enjoying NYC for more than just fashion week.
The Parker is perfectly situated two blocks from Central Park, yes our room had a view, and we were able to walk to Time Square. We also caught new Broadway show Moulin Rouge which we also walked to, being Los Angelenos walking everywhere is such a novelty. For those of you who do have time to navigate the subway system there is a station a block away (I did take the subway once this trip)
Getting great food is always on the agenda when in New York and lucky for us The Parker had an amazing breakfast which we typically had delivered so we could get ready while eating . Although we didn’t have a chance to try it there is a not-so-secret burger joint in the lobby aptly named Burger Joint. Its hidden but based on the line up to get in every night it’s become a very well known spot. I love the deliberately worn in old school decor giving it tried and true brooklyn burger hangout vibes.
Another fantastic time saving (some might say life saving) feature of The Parker is the Blushington very conveniently located in the lower level of the hotel. If you’re not familiar with Blushington its a makeup artist and dry styling service perfect if you have a special occasion or just want to treat yourself to a professional makeup and hair styling session.
I have had my hair and makeup done hundreds of times over the years but my guy Eduardo made me look like a goddess (see photos here, Eduardo clearly not pictured)
The lobby bar which is certainly ideal for a fashion photo shoot it was also our last pit stop of the day before heading to our room for a little night cap. It has that quintessential classic luxurious NYC hotel bar feel and they shake up a perfect dirty vodka martini.
Hope you enjoyed this little peek into my stay at the fabulous Parker Hotel in midtown Manhattan and if you have plans to visit New York I highly recommend this wonderful hotel. xo ~Zia
Thank you to The Parker & Blushington for taking care of all our needs during our recent stay!
