Theres nothing like a tropical vacation to fuel the mind and body. I have been traveling to Hawaii with my family since I was a child and have always found it to be the most magical place. It’s a vacation destination that I always know I will thoroughly enjoy and come home feeling recalibrated and refreshed.
I never seem to suffer any maladies while Im on the islands; I suffer no allergies, I don’t wake up with dry eyes, my psoriasis seems to fade away, I sleep like a baby- I literally do not need any pills, potions or ointments. I don’t know if it’s my state of mind while Im in the tropics or if its the environment or both. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that you can go somewhere and come home feeling like a new person.
This trip was the first time traveling to Hawaii without my husband since we first met, It was also the shortest trip I’ve ever taken to Hawaii – we typically go for at least two weeks. It was a bit of an experiment to see if going for a short time was worth while since long trips are extremely expensive and I am pleased to report that any amount of time spent in Hawaii is well worth the travel time & cost.
Although this was a girls trip, it was a low key girls trip. My pal Tillie and I mostly laid low, hanging out on the beach sipping cocktails and dipping in the ocean or pool. Relaxation was the name of the game, however, it’s not a tropical vacation without a sunset sail and Mai Tai Catamarans are my favorite. They have the best Mai Tais (hence the name) and they dock right next to the Sheraton on Waikiki beach for easy access.
This is at Waikikis newest hot spot SKY – be sure you make a reservation to get a table at this fun spot where you can enjoy fruity cocktails, a raw bar and the best view of Waikiki.
Its Mental Health Awareness month and since we’re on the topic of the mental health benefits of going on a tropical vacation, which is not something we can always do I wanted to mention Headway . This national network connects patients with one of their 15k+ in network mental health therapists that are actually covered by insurance. The pandemic definitely took its toll on the mental health of so many people so I felt compelled to introduce the service that Headway provides to my readers. If you or someone you know could benefit from finding a provider please share this information along with some other sites that can help with suicide prevention and addiction in addition to mental health.
Stay well my friends
xoxo ~Zia
