Bike shorts with a crop top, oversized blazer and lace up ankle boots was my daily uniform back in the 90’s. Perhaps I’m pushing the boundaries of what’s appropriate by wearing this look again at this stage in my life but isn’t pushing boundaries what fashion is for? I like to envision myself as a sassy old lady still rocking bold colors and the latest trends and not concerning myself with what is considered age appropriate. We just had the hottest weekend on record here in CA with wildfires burning everywhere (don’t get me started about those gender reveal stunts that started the fires) and in spite of the heat Im super excited to be wearing combat boots again. When they were first popularized (yup in the 90s) I went to the local Army surplus store and bought authentic, used combat boots and it wasn’t easy finding them in my size. I wore said boots all over my backpacking trip through Europe which probably wasn’t the best choice considering how stiff and heavy they were. Fortunately Dr Marten’s came out with cuter, more comfortable versions of the popular ankle boot however, they still had not come up with the side zipper so you would have to lace them up every time. I doubt I would wear them as much today if it weren’t for the easy access zipper like on these croc embossed pair from Linea Paolo (linked below)
I know we still officially have a few weeks left in the season but Labor Day weekend unofficially ends summer for me and I will be suffering through the continuing heat to bring you all my favorite fall styles.
Enjoy your short week and thanks for visiting! xo ~Zia
