At the encouragement of several friends Ive decided to do a series of home decor posts, starting with the front room of our home. I am as meticulous, if not more so, of the appearance of my home than I am of my own personal appearance, Im actually a little OCD about it! When I have people over I will make sure the house is perfection before I even think about how I look. Having a clean, beautiful, visually interesting home is incredibly important to me!
I have the benefit of having a husband who decorates film/TV sets for a living so we have access to some of the best furniture, rugs, throw pillows, knick knacks, artwork etc in the city! The design of our home is very collaborative between my husband and I, although I believe I am more detail oriented and Michael is more the big picture guy, fortunately for us we are more often then not on the same page with what we want. Mid Century modern is our general theme but we still want the house to feel comfortable and homey so thats where the abundance of pillows and rugs comes in and being the green thumb that I am there is plenty of plants and fresh flowers throughout! We have many mid century vintage pieces in our living room with the Danish Kado wall cabinet being the focal point. The open shelving gives us a place to display our favorite books, objet D’art as well as artwork that our son has created over the years, however, the most talked about display in the living room is definitely my bowl of sunglasses, I am undoubtedly a lover of eyewear. I hope you enjoy the little peek into my home, I will continue with a tour of our family room next month!
