December 26th will forever be Boxing Day to me. I was born & raised in Canada where Boxing Day is a national holiday. It originated in England as a day the employees of the wealthy would get the day off after Christmas and get a box (present) from their employer. It has more recently become like a Black Friday of sorts, the day everything goes on major sale and everyone flocks to the malls to grab whatever they didn’t get for Christmas at a serious discount. For my family Boxing Day is the day my mom would have her holiday party, open house style, and friends and family members would flow in and out of the house all day, a continuation of our Christmas celebration. Since I didn’t go home for Christmas this year the day will be spent with my boy, husband and sister in law eating left-overs and taking Hunter to see Annie…I hope however you spent Christmas was joyful and memorable! xxx Z
