Ruffled Skirt, Eyelet Top, Straw Bag.

In my mind I am still satiating my wanderlust and traveling the world, discovering hidden beaches and exploring new lands…when in reality I am hunkered down at home finding ways to make my facemasks match my summer outfits. There’s nothing like a romantic floral print ruffled skirt and eyelet top to make me feel like I should be strolling along the Mediterranean. This era we are living in is to a certain extent oppressive however it is bringing out my creative side in a big way. I find myself frequently imagining myself in a better situation through fashion  and its helping me through, whatever works right? I am also escaping through reading books; I’m obsessed with the My Brilliant Friend series which takes place in 1950’s Italy. I love it so much I bought my mom the four part books series too. Watching shows and movies has also been a great way to distract from the monotony of current life and oddly (or not so oddly) I’ve been gravitating toward shows that are European produced like Zero, Zero, Zero or Marcella, Money Heist & of course the TV version of My Brilliant Friend. I think I appreciate European writing and acting more and also the feeling of traveling somewhere vicariously through the shows is enticing. Living through strange times like this makes us more imaginative which is not a bad thing.

I hope you find some way to enjoy your Fourth of July weekend even though large gatherings and fireworks displays won’t be the norm in most states, we have to continue to be vigilant and do our social distancing, wear masks and avoid crowds so we can slow the spread down like they did in Europe, New Zealand and my home country of Canada!!
