As a blogger I have the privilege of trying out a plethora of different beauty products and I definitely consider it one of the major perks of the industry. Whether it’s through a brand campaign or given in a gift bag after an event I feel like I have tried just about everything out there. I frequently get asked what kind of beauty products I use so I have compiled this list of my absolute favorites that I have or will go out and buy for myself because they made that much of an impression on me.
In the first photo I am wearing a hair turban from Aquis, I use one of these every time I wash my hair and even travel with one. I have very fragile hair so I do anything I can to protect it. These turbans expedite hair drying so your hair incurs less damage from blow drying and I love that it’s easier to keep on my head than a regular towel.
Note: As much as I love my Aquis towel it does not count as one of my top 10.
The second photo shows my collection of matte liquid lipsticks from SmashBox. I have one in a multitude of nudes, a couple of pinks and my favorite red “Bawse” these lip colors stay on forever and make a great base for layering with your favorite lipgloss.
Around this time last year I met the owner of Isle of Paradise, Jules Von Hep, who is considered a celebrity tanner back in his home country of England. I got a private spray tan from him and fell in love with the product: quick drying, no bad smell and great color (read: no orange tones) I was sent home with Self-Tanning mousse, Self-Tanning Water & Self-Tanning Drops which I like to mix in with my moisturizer, keeps me glowing all summer!
As I mentioned earlier I have fragile, fine, damaged, you-name-it hair so I spend a lot on hair products to help will all these issues. I am a huge fan of all Kérastase products but these are the ones I use regularly. I apply the Magic Night Serum to my ends every night and I wake up with my hair looking fabulously smooth and healthy, there’s no need to rinse. The Cicaplasme is a product I apply to my damp hair after washing to protect against heat damage and Ciment Thermique I use to smooth and strengthen my hair after blow drying. As I said my hair is fine and none of these products weigh it down or make it look greasy.
I recently did a partnership with Amlactin and I have not stopped recommending this very inexpensive and brilliant moisturizer to everyone I know. It contains lactic acid which helps exfoliate and is also fragrance free so it’s good for men and children too. I especially love it for my hands during this time of constant hand washing and sanitizing, which can leave our skin super dry and crepey.
I got a sample of this body scrub from Lather in a gift bag a few summers back and it’s probably my favorite scrub I have ever used. I got my husband hooked on it too so I always get him a jar for Christmas. It’s a little on the pricey side but it will last you a very long time. My hubs and I both love the grit and even use it on our faces. Some may find it too abrasive for the face but we love it, however, I wouldn’t recommend using it on your face everyday. Bonus: it smells amazing too!
I have been a fan of Fresh products for quite some time. I have been very lucky to have worked with them several times over the past few years and have gotten to try so many of their products. They’re constantly coming out with new products but I always go back to the Black Tea line and this daily sunscreen/ moisturizer is my favorite. Its light and not greasy so it’s perfect for a day time lotion and living in LA I always need a little sun protection on my face.
Another example of a product I received in a gift bag and fell in love with is Hum Mighty Night. It’s a nighttime supplement that helps with cell renewal and it also makes you sleep like a baby. You wake up looking super refreshed every morning. Total win/win!
I was told recently by an internalist that perhaps some symptoms I was experiencing such as bloating, the inability to lose weight around my belly and maybe even my recent diagnosis of slightly elevated cholesterol levels could be attributed to digestion and she suggested I start taking digestive enzymes. Being an existing fan of Hum Nutrition products I trusted trying out their Flatter Me enzymes and it’s been a game changer. I take one with every meal and have noticed a major difference in my mid section. I haven’t been back to check my cholesterol levels but I will follow up with results when I do.
I believe that we should all treat ourselves to a luxury beauty product or two. After being introduced to RéVive products a few years ago I decided that RéVive Moisturizing Renewal would be one of those for me. It’s one of those skin care products that you actually notice a distinct difference in your skin when you use it. It is admittedly a bit of a splurge but I assure you well worth it!
Derma E is a skincare line that is super effective and also very affordable. I also love that they are environmentally conscious and they give back to the community by organizing events such as beach clean ups. They’re constantly coming up with new products to address our ever changing world such as a blue light protection spray but their Vitamin C line is my everyday go-to! I use the concentrated serum daily and the under eye patches are perfect when you need a little depuffing and brightening, which for me during allergy season is every single day.
I know most people associate Tula with skin lotions and potions and as much as I love their brightening eye balm and face wash I am loving these gummy vitamins even more. I have noticed a major change in my nails (especially since taking off my gels) they’re growing fast and strong and my hair seems to be coming in faster as well.
I hope you found reading about some of my favorite beauty products helpful, especially in a world where there is so many choose from. Everything listed here is something that I will be going back for again and again. Please feel free to send me a note if you have any questions about any of the products or want more info Id be happy to help!
Hope you’re all staying home and staying healthy! xo ~Zia
