I spent my childhood travelling quite extensively with my family. Every spring, summer and Christmas break we would go somewhere: Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, to the mountains, to the lake; always somewhere… My older brother is a surfer and has been to countless enviable places (he flew to Costa Rica the same day I left for Europe) so it’s in our blood to travel… I continued travelling into my early twenties, but when I got serious about my acting career I was soon introduced to a much feared curse: the second you book a non-refundable flight you get an audition or callback or even worse book a job. For quite some time I just wouldn’t leave town due to the fear of missing out on a job. At some juncture I made a conscious decision, one can’t stop enjoying life for the sake of one’s career, at which point I resumed exploring this great big world. Recently the best of my worlds collided and I was booked on a job that had me travelling on a luxury cruise line across the Mediterranean Sea, from Lisbon to Rome; an extraordinary and surreal experience. It was my intention to post a daily travel diary, however, our busy shooting schedule as well as the sporadic internet service while on the sea made it impossible.
I met some really wonderful, talented people on this job, but also experienced some friction with others, all industries introduce a vast array of personalities and temperaments to one another but in my experience the entertainment industry is worse than most. It was a huge learning experience to be in such close proximity with others for so long on a job and I have consequently made a long list of resolutions to live by when I return. I hope you enjoy the photos from my journey and I will resume the regularly programmed fashion posts as soon as possible.
So glad to be home! Xxx Zia
