If you read my post yesterday you already know I have decided to add an occasional weekend beauty review to my usual weekday fashion posts. As a blogger I have the good fortune to experience so many new products and treatments I felt I should share them with my readers, so here it goes…With all of the different types of beauty procedures available these days its really hard to pick one. I’m a bit of a health freak and try not to put anything toxic into my body: I avoid medicine whenever I can, I eat entirely organic/vegetarian, refuse X-rays at all costs you get the picture…. I was recently offered the opportunity to try a new skin tightening technique called Acoustic Wave Therapy at the first-of-its-kind clinic in the US called SkinWave. Before I accepted I did some research to make sure there were no excessively bright lights or lasers involved and even then I was skeptical but I went for it! What I learned about acoustic wave therapy is that its been around a long time, since the 70’s, and was initially developed in Europe to break up kidney stones. During this therapy they discovered that the waves helped with tendonitis and with that therapy they discovered it helped with reducing cellulite and so on… I am very lucky that cellulite is not an issue for me so I went with newest usage of AWT: facial treatment. The SkinWave clinic is in the heart of Beverly Hills and is owned and operated by a lovely French gentleman named George. I had four sessions which consisted of short, painless treatments they are however quite noisy (hence the acoustic part) and there are no side effects or downtime. I’m am not yet particularly saggy in the face but I did notice a tightening along the jawline, I avoided my forehead because I’m neurotic about anything coming near my brain but I’m sure I would have seen some lifting of the eyelids. It’s definitely not a treatment that gives you immediate visible results but over time you do see a difference and if you’re like me and prefer taking a more natural approach to staying youthful it’s worth checking out!
